Alberta Poverty Reduction Network

The Alberta Poverty Reduction Network (APRN) is a network of organizations and municipalities across Alberta that are committed to developing and supporting local poverty reduction strategies. The APRN acts as a champion of poverty reduction strategies at all levels of government. By sharing information, activities, and best practices, it strives to contribute a united voice on poverty reduction in Alberta. The APRN meets quarterly to:

  • deepen awareness and understanding by facilitating the sharing of the learning outside of Alberta;

  • foster the development of groups to focus on specific opportunities and challenges; and

  • develop a common voice on poverty reduction strategies across the province.

Throughout 2025, we will be focusing on the housing crisis in Alberta.

  • Wednesday March 12, 2025 - Alleviating Houselessness in Alberta.

    An online learning and knowledge exchange featuring:

    • Principles for Working with Houseless Individuals. Dr. John Rook, CEO - Simon House Recovery Centre.

    • Housing Rights and Municipal Protocols for Addressing Encampments. Latonya Ludford, Canada Program Manager - The Shift.

    • The State of Houselessness in Alberta and Community-level Solutions. Emma Wallace, Project Manager, Community Development and Homelessness Estimations. The Rural Development Network.

Membership:

Membership is open to all organizations and individuals interested in furthering provincial and local poverty reduction strategies. The network strives to engage all sectors.
